Peter Murphy of Bauhaus and Boy George of Culture Club have released an exciting new collaboration: "Let the Flowers Grow". The track was created when Murphy was in Spain, working on his upcoming album, and heard a melody playing on producer Youth’s phone. The sound caught his attention for its melodic beauty and a voice reminiscent of Roy Orbison. Upon learning it was a Boy George demo, he created his own version, which became the song we know today.
Boy George spoke about the collaboration, saying he was thoroughly satisfied with the outcome. “I’ve always loved Pete’s voice, and his contribution adds a beautiful darkness to the track. The production feels epic, like Scott Walker.”
The two first met decades ago when Boy George went backstage at a Magazine show, where Bauhaus was the supporting act. Murphy recalled the encounter as memorable, noting that Boy George appeared like a “self-styled 17th-century original.” They met again years later at the BBC studio where both were performing on “Top of the Pops,” and that’s when Murphy discovered Boy George was a Bauhaus fan.
