This December, Daft Punk's epic musical Interstella 5555 returns to theaters worldwide with a 4K remaster and a limited edition of the Discovery album.
Daft Punk is bringing Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem back to theaters for a special one-night event this winter.
The French electronic duo transformed their album Discovery into a sci-fi anime, collaborating with director Cédric Hervet, legendary Japanese artist Leiji Matsumoto, and the renowned Toei Animation studio. Interstella 5555 became an iconic project for Daft Punk, blending music and animation in a unique experience.
Now, the work has been remastered in 4K and will be shown for one night only in theaters worldwide on December 12th, in partnership with Trafalgar Releasing.
“It’s incredibly exciting to bring Interstella 5555 in stunning 4K to cinemas for this one-time global event,” says Marc Allenby, CEO of Trafalgar Releasing. “This screening offers a rare chance for fans to enjoy the film in high definition and, on top of that, to experience Daft Punk music videos on the big screen. We can’t wait to share this with audiences.”
The Discovery soundtrack, woven throughout the film’s story, will also be reissued to coincide with the event.
The new Discovery: Interstella 5555 Edition will include special Japanese edition artwork, stickers, and the iconic Daft Club card—a true collector’s item when it was first released. This limited edition will include 5555 gold vinyl records, 5555 numbered CDs, and 25,000 black vinyl records.
Shinji Shimizu from Toei Animation, who helped produce the film, recalls, “‘One More Time’ was everywhere back then! It was such a thrill to know we were working on the animation for this music.”
The screening of Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem will take place on December 12th.
